Cooper, Joseph Alexander b. November 25, 1823 d. May 20, 1910 Civil War Union Brevet Major General. After serving in the Mexican War, he took part in politics as an anti-secessionist and when Tennessee seceded from the union, he moved to Kentucky and joined the Union as a Captain in the 1st Tennessee Infantry. After being in combat in some engagements in Tennessee, he was commissioned Colonel of the 6th Tennessee and took part in the Battles of Stone's River, Chickamauga and the Chattanooga Campaign. McGill, Sgt. Troy A. b. July 15, 1914 d. March 4, 1944 World War II Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He was killed in action. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army in Troop G, 5th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on March 4, 1944 at Admiralty Group, Los Negros Islands. Neyland, Robert Reese b. February 17, 1892 d. March 28, 1962 US Army Brigadier General, College Football Coach. He graduated from West Point in 1916 and after serving as an officer in the Engineer Corps in World War I, he was an aide to General Douglas MacArthur at the US Military Academy. After his enlistment, he was appointed Professor of Military Science at the University of Tennessee in 1926. Spillane, Timothy d. December 3, 1901 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served during the Civil War as a Private in Company C, 16th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Battle of Hatcher's Run, Virgina on February 5 to 7, 1865. His citation reads "Gallantry and good conduct in action; bravery in a charge and reluctance to leave the field after being twice wounded." His Medal was awarded to him on September 16, 1880.
