Bishop, Cecil William b. June 29, 1890 d. September 21, 1971 US Congressman. He was the city clerk of Carterville, Illinois, 1915 to 1918 and postmaster at Carterville, 1923 to 1933. In 1941, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-seventh Congress and to the six succeeding Congresses, serving until 1955. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was a liaison assistant, at the Postal Department, Washington, D.C., 1955 to 1957, superintendent of Industrial Planning and Labor Conciliator for State of Illinois, 1958 to 1960.
