Cozzens, William Cole b. August 26, 1811 d. December 17, 1876 Rhode Island Governor. He served as a mayor of Newport, Rhode Island and later was elected to the Rhode Island State Senate, eventually becoming President of that body. It was while serving in that capacity that both the Governor and Lieutenant Governor resigned to serve in the United States Senate.
