Baldwin, Abraham [cenotaph] b. November 23, 1754 d. March 4, 1807 US Senator and Congressman, Signer of Constitution. He attended Yale in his native Connecticut with the desire to become a minister, but his involvement as an army chaplain during the Revolutionary War changed his career path. While in the Army the young theologian began to study law. Following the war he was encouraged to move to Georgia to help establish the frontier state's education system.
