Daly, Michael J. b. September 15, 1924 d. July 25, 2008 World War II Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Lieutenant Daly was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Harry Truman for valor in combat for his actions on April 18, 1945 in Nuremberg, Germany. Shannon, James C. b. July 21, 1896 d. March 6, 1980 Governor of Connecticut. As lieutenant governor, he was elevated to the governorship on March 7, 1948, after the unexpected death of Governor James L. McConaughy. He was unsuccessful in seeking a term in his own right that fall. After leaving office, he served on the Connecticut Superior Court from 1953 to 1965 and was an associate justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court from 1965 to 1966. Ventriglia, Franco b. October 20, 1922 d. November 28, 2012 Opera Singer. A basso, he performed in principal venues on both sides of the Atlantic for close to half a century.
