Arnold, George b. June 24, 1834 d. November 9, 1865 Author, Poet. He contributed stories, poetry and articles to the magazine "Vanity Fair" as well as to "The Leader". He authored what was known as the "McArone Papers", which brought him prominence as a humorist. His most famous poem became the "Jolly Old Pedagogue". DeCavalcante, Simone b. 1912 d. February 7, 1997 Organized Crime Figure. Known as "Sam the Plumber," he was the boss of the Mafia's New Jersey based DeCavalcante Family (which is named after him) from the 1960s until the mid 1970s. In 1961, the FBI planted a listening device in the office of his plumbing company, and recorded him discussing criminal activities with other Mafia members and with politicians until they removed the device in 1965. Liberman Jr., Russell Jim 'Jungle Jim' b. September 12, 1945 d. September 9, 1977 American Drag Racer. Known as "Jungle Jim", he was named #17 on the list of the Top 50 NHRA drivers. He was known as a flamboyant showman who would often drive backwards at 100 mph after doing his burnout, and he would refuse to lift off the gas when a run was completely out of shape. Touring primarily the United States, he averaged an estimated 100 events per year during the 1970s. He lost his life in an auto accident, colliding his Corvette head-on with a bus. Mager, George Frederick b. February 23, 1875 d. April 12, 1938 Spanish-American War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served in the United States Navy during the War with Spain as an Apprentice First Class on board the "USS Marblehead". He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery during the cutting of the cable leading from Cienfuegos, Cuba, on May 11, 1898. His citation reads "Facing the heavy fire of the enemy, Mager set an example of extraordinary bravery and coolness throughout this action." His Medal was awarded to him on November 2, 1899. Witkin, Isaac b. May 10, 1936 d. April 23, 2006 Modern Sculptor. Internationally renowned and widely recognized as one of the most original and masterful sculptors of the modernist era.
