Autry, Lottie Dolores b. January 9, 1936 d. June 10, 1997 Author, Historian. She was a noted genealogist, author of "Linwood Cemetery" and several other books of Georgia and Alabama local histories. She was the first uniformed female law enforcement officer in Columbus,Ga and served in all three branches, Marshals Office, Sheriffs Office and the Police Department. Colquitt, Col. Peyton H. b. October 8, 1831 d. September 22, 1863 Civil War Officer. During the Civil War, he became the commander of Gist's Brigade. On September 20, 1863, during the Battle of Chickmauga, he was mortally wounded. He died two days later. He was one of four Confederate Army commanders killed at Chickamauga. Johnson, James b. February 12, 1811 d. November 20, 1891 Georgia Governor. US Representative. Elected as a US Representative from 1851 to 1853, Johnson was appointed the Provisional Governor of Georgia by President Andrew Johnson at the end of the Civil War. Pemberton, John S. b. July 8, 1831 d. August 16, 1888 American physician and chemist from Georgia who invented the popular soft drink Coca~Cola. After attending pharmacy school, Dr. Pemberton opened up his own drug store in Columbus, Georgia. He later served as a confederate lieutenant in the Civil War.
