In Loving Memory of Norene Parker Bradley
Norene Bradley was born to the late Wheeler and Alberta Parker on February 13, 1906 in Porter, Oklahoma. She became a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church at the age of nine. Spiritually guided throughout her life, she was the first of the hometown youngsters to teach in Wagoner County, Oklahoma and taught in the Oklahoma school system for 30 years. In 1966, she was recruited by educators from the District of Columbia to teach in that system to improve the then low status of the system's reading program. She taught in this system for 10 years and retired in 1977.
Norene was multi talented and left her mark on each school system in which she taught. Artistic and creative in her home, her flower graden and her personal style, she was a pioneer, always coming up with new and inventive ideas. She never received public credit for the things she inspired in others; only in private. She never complained, just kept on doing her best and accepting each challenge.
She was predeceased by her husband, who died when her daughters were very young. Norene excelled at motherhood and leaves two loving, protective, talented and beautiful daughters, who are living examples of what Norene accomplished. She always sang the praises of her successful sons-in-laws, as well as her two granddaughters.
Norene's favorite quote was "Do daily and hourly your duty. Whether it be known or acknowledged, do not fail to do it. "
