Graveside services for Mable Babbitt, 93, of 3115 Sycamore St., Boise, who died on Aug. 18, 1983, at a local nursing home of natural causes, will be held on Monday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, under the direction of Summers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Babbitt was born on April 23, 1890, in Cedar Rapids, Neb., to Amos and Elizabeth Smith, who homesteaded in Cedar Rapids. She married Thomas Earl Babbitt on Nov. 8, 1910, in Fullerton, Neb. They farmed in the Fullerton area until 1935, when they moved to Caldwell. Mr. Babbitt died in 1937 and Mrs. Babbitt moved to Boise three years later. She was a sales clerk for the Cash Bazaar for more than 20 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church; the Order of Eastern Star, Mystic Chapter #81; and amaranth Syringa Court #2.
Survivors include a sister, Edith A. Smith of Payette; a son-in-law, James Raftery of Boise; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Charles Babbitt of Boise; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, four children, four sisters, six brothers and two grandchildren.
