Known to many as "Queen Esther", she was born 88 years ago, and was a life long resident of Murfreesboro. She was married to the late Anderson Dave Washington, who died in 1962. She enjoyed being a teacher and taught in the Rutherford County School System for 37 years. Being the oldest member at Mt. View Missionary Baptist Church, in Smyrna, TN, she faithfully served on the Mother's Board and volunteered to work on many church committees. Not only was she active in her career and in her church, but she spent many years as a member of the Better Homes & Garden Club and the Better Living Club. She was a style setter and she entered a room with such pride and charisma, that people gravitated toward her warm personality. She had a great outlook on life and connected easily with people - always greeting them with a beautiful smile that could brighten anyone's day. Her devoted daughter, Leonora "Boe" Washington, followed in her mother's footsteps and is a teacher, as well. In addition to her daughter, "Boe", she will be greatly missed by her nephews, David Windrow, Dennis Windrow and Brumrick Windrow; a niece, Alice Frazier and a host of great nephews, nieces and friends
