Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the Union Army in New York, New York. He served as a Brevet Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Vols. He was awarded the CMOH as a Captain and Aid-de-Camp for action on November 30, 1864 at Honey Hill, South Carolina. His citation reads "While under severe fire of the enemy, which drove back the command, rendered valuable assistance in rallying the men."
