Funeral Of George E. Hutchins To Be Held Tomorrow
Funeral services over the remains of Mr. George E. Hutchins, whose death occurred Saturday afternoon, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock at his late residence, 1727 33d Street, Georgetown. Dr. James H.W. Blake, rector of Christ Church, will officiate. Interment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery with Masonic honors.
Mr. Hutchins was a native of Maryland, having been born in Baltimore in 1847. Most of his life, however, had been spent in this city. Until recently he was engaged in the bottling business on E Street Northwest. He took a lively interest in fraternal matters and at the time of his death was a member of New Jerusalem Lodge, No. 9, of the Masonic fraternity; of DeMolay Mounted Commandery, Knights Templar and National Tent, No. 1, Knights of Maccabee.
In the early spring, while Mr. Hutchins was performing his duties as inspector at the new filtration plant, he met with an unfortunate and painful accident. Injuries which he sustained caused concussion of the brain and from this his death resulted. His widow, Mrs. Ida Hutchins, daughter of the late Lieut. Robinson, Metropolitan Police Department; three daughters – Misses Lotta and Grace Hutchins and Mrs. Estelle Sparhott – and two sons – George Francis, an officer of the torpedo boat Chauncey, now on the Asiatic station and Walter Hutchins of this city – survive him.
