Edward was the son of Hendrick Thompson and his wife Agnes Agathe Zimmerman. He married Mary Lavina "Vina" Cude on January 7, 1878, in Frio County. He and Vina had two children--William Edward Thompson and Minnie Florence Thompson, Edward died at the age of 22 in Frio County, Texas. Vina married twice more after her husband's early death.
