Charley D. Lotspiech son of John and Alice Lotspiech, was born in Calhoun County, Iowa, August 15, 1898, and departed this life at Tulsa, Oklahoma, June 1, 1921. Age 22 years, 9 months and 17 days.

The family moved from Iowa to Kansas and settled at Randall when Charley was about one and a half years old. He united with the Christian church here in November 1913. He was a member of the A. O. U. W. Lodge of Mankato, Kansas.

January 5, 1920 he joined the U. S. Navy and was stationed at Great Lakes and Hampton Roads training stations as a member of Company 85, February 4, 1920 owing to ill health he was given a medical discharge. He was in Lincoln, Nebraska hospital for about three months before he was able to go to work.

For some time he has been located at Tulsa, Oklahoma where he met his death last Wednesday by a gun shot wound in the breast during the race riot.

He leaves to mourn his untimely departure, his mother, Mrs. Alice Lotspiech, and three sisters, Alta and Gladys at home, and Mrs. Manzo Hockett south of Randall, his father, John Lotspiech of Minatare, Nebraska. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He also leaves a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 P. M. from the Lotspiech home and interment made in the Randall cemetery with military honors. B. H. Batson officiating minister. B. H. B.

Additional Note: The funeral procession for Charley Lotspeich, who was killed in the race riot at Tulsa, was one offing largest seen here for many a year. The American Legion had charge of the services and they were carried thorugh with much impressiveness.
