William "Bill" Taylor was the 5th child of William Patterson Taylor and Mary Alice Bates Taylor. His siblings were: Lucius Patterson, Lillian Lee, Ruby Alice, Bates Inskip, and Albert Dudley. His first wife was Ruth Ida Ward, whom he married in 1939. They were parents of four sons, Ward Taylor, Gary Taylor, Marc Taylor and Scott Taylor. His second wife was Nell Ligon Wolfe, of South Cle Elum, married 1975.
