John R. Buse, 89, died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at his home in Warner, Oklahoma. He was born September 23, 1923 in Keefeton, Oklahoma to Raymond and Dena (Loger) Buse. John was the second son of seven children. He grew up on the family farm where they not only raised their own hogs and beef cattle but they also planted and harvested all of their grain and hay crops. In 1957, John went to work for Halliburton in Farmington, New Mexico. On December 24, 1957, he married Oma Sue Garland in Stigler, Oklahoma. This union lasted 45 years and gave them their loving daughter, Jeanetta. After moving numerous times over a 25 year period, John came back to Oklahoma and retired in Warner, not far from the family homeplace. John's goal in retirement was to raise the finest quality Angus cattle and with the help of his late nephew, Muriel Holder, they reached and maintained that goal. Although no longer raising his own cattle, John still oversaw the daily operations of the place and was always lending a helping hand or giving advice to those in need. John loved to attend Angus sales and to watch TV cattle auctions and keep up with current trends of Angus cattle and the beef market. John was a lifetime member of the American Angus Association, a member of the Oklahoma Angus Association, the Arkansas-Oklahoma Angus Association, and the Muskogee County Cattlemen's Association. He was honored to receive recognition and inducted into the Oklahoma Angus Hall of Fame, 2009-2010. Preceding John in death were his parents, Raymond and Dena Buse; his wife, Oma Sue Buse in 2002; brother, Chris Buse; sisters, Sena Moore, Edith Robinson, Hannah Charles and Hilda Jones. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31st at Keefeton Freewill Baptist Church with Reverends Danny Barks and Cardell Coppin officiating. Interment will follow in Agnew Cemetery.
