Joyce Greene Coffey, 78, of West Hillcrest Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, October 26, 2012. Born May 5, 1934 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Robert and Lillie Dishman Greene. Joyce was a life long member of Clark's Creek Baptist Church. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and her favorite pastime was sewing and stitching. Mrs. Coffey retired from the NC License Plate Agency in Boone.
She is survived by three daughters, Samra Renfro of the home, Sara Richardson of Lenoir, and Elaine McGuire and husband, Eugene, of Vilas; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Rachael Townsend and husband, Bill, and Lois Ann Hodges, all of Valle Crucis, and Lucille Smith and husband, Homer, of Salisbury; and one brother, Roy Lee Greene and wife, Betty, of Salisbury. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Truett; son, Warren Coffey; granddaughter, Sandra Joyce Ward; great-grandson, Aron Bradley Morrison; and three brothers, Lawrence, Willis, and Wayne Greene.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 28, 2012, at 3 PM at Clark's Creek Baptist Church in Banner Elk, officiated by Pastor Daniel Trantham, Rev. Zane Tester and Rev. Mike Townsend. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until 3 o'clock, prior to services, at the church. Burial will follow in the Clark's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
