Joanne Elaine Johnson (Gilmore) died Oct. 11, 2012, at Life Care Center of Richland, after a courageous 3-year battle with cancer.

She was born June 28, 1942, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She was a resident of West Richland for 18 years. She was a member of Central United Protestant Church, with previous membership in Pasco Christian Church.

She was a graduate of Myrtle Creek High School in 1960 and later in life, graduated with an associate degree in arts and science from Columbia Basin College in 2004.

She retired from Flour Hanford to work as a child advocate in her chosen career.

She was preceded in death by parents Harold and Nora Gilmore.

Survivors include son Kirk Johnson (and wife Sue); grandsons Aaron, Jacob and Sam; son Mark Johnson; granddaughter Jill and grandson Danny; son Eric Johnson, companion Sarah Jones; granddaughter Emory and grandson Austin.

She is also survived by sister Jean King (husband John), sister Jody Wearin (husband Jaime) and brother Jeff Gilmore (companion Gary Henne) along with nephews and nieces and their respective families.

Services will be Sunday, October 14, at 1 p.m. at Central United Protestant Church chapel. Interment will be beside her parents at Lakeview Cemetery in in Macdoel, California.

The family asks that instead of flowers, donations be made to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center in her memory.
