Benjamin G Guinup, of Co. A, drafted man enrolled Sep. 22, 1864 in Evansville by Corp. Blyth Hynes as a Private; mustered in Nov. 22, 1864 in Evansville by Corp. Blyth Hynes at age 30. He was 5Œ 4.50 tall, dark complexion, black eyes, and black hair. Born Oct. 15, 1833 in Hamilton Co., OH, employed as a teacher, married to Sarah Elizabeth Rugless/Ruggles, resident of Washington, in Daviess Co., IN. Mustered out with other drafted men Jun. 13, 1865 in Chattanooga, TN with rank of Private. Notes: Residence also listed as Indianapolis in Marion Co., IN where hefs on the 1850 census. In Chattanooga Hospital Dec. 15, 1864, and returned to duty Mar. 1, 1865. Died Sep. 4, 1867 in Daviess Co., IN. Probably buried there with Elizabeth S. and son Jasper in Maysville Cemetery. Elizabeth filed Widowfs Pension Application to receive Widowfs Pension Certificate #144419 Sep. 13, 1869 as Gwinnup.
