Niece of Hannah Vance Crawford (1724-1817).

Were not officially married however, William had affair with Ann

Colonel William Crawford (d. 1782), by his mistress, Ann Matthews Connell (d. 1784), who was a niece of his wife, Hannah Vance Crawford (d. 1817).
This identification is presented in the meticulously documented booklet, The Case For Declaring That Colonel William Crawford And Ann Connell Are The Parents Of William, James, Nancy And Polly Connell (1992), by Diana Glynn and Wayne Bracken, a copy of which is in my possession.
The second appendix to an earlier work by the same authors, The Case For Declaring That Thomas Mounts Married Nancy, Daughter Of Ann Connell...(1991, revised 1992), is entitled 'Thomas Mounts acted on behalf of James Connell, son of Ann Connell', and details James' inheritance.
