Age 84 and a lifelong resident of Southport, NY, he died at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Harold was survived by his loving wife (of 60 years in August), Viola Johnson Bergh of Southport, NY; his daughter, Sandra (Clyde) Knowlton of Pine City, NY; son, Harold O. Bergh Jr. of Southport, NY; grandchildren, Tari and Michael Knowlton, Chad and Mandy Bergh; great-grandchildren, Zach and Katie Knowlton; sister, Alma Maloney of Elmira; brother, Ken (Marg) Bergh of Elmira; sister-in-law, Constance Bergh of Southport; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. His brother and sister, Howard Bergh and Helen Struble, predeceased Harold.
Harold was a very well known area horseman and loved his Quarter Horse Bud. Harold was a member of the Chemung County Fair Board for many active years and a member of the Chemung County Posse, Union-Cooley Masonic Lodge #95 F & AM and Cashmere Grotto #11. He was also a past member of the Southport Kiwanis Club and The Chemung Area Horse Council and was a lifelong devoted member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the owner and retired president of H.H.& K. Bergh in Southport, established in 1947.
