Herman was born in Speegleville, Texas, to the late Robert E. Lee Lawson and Emma D. Scott Lawson. He was a 1929 graduate of Waco High School, and graduated from Four-C Business College in Waco. Herman attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He was a heavey equipment operator for Universal Atlas Cement Co. for 42 years. Herman was a member of Speegleville Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; stepdaughters, M. Carol Smith, of Dallas, and Ann Vereen, of Hewitt; stepsons, J. Michael Smith, of Dallas, and David E. Smith, of West; sister, Mrs. Gertrude Teeple, of Crawford; brothers, Bill Lawson and Cullen Lawson, both of Waco; other relatives and many friends.
