John Randall Sabine, 76, a retired Murphysboro Township High School teacher, died Thursday at his home, 2028 Pine St., after an illness of three years.

Mr. Sabine taught mathematics at the high school 26 years.

He was born Jan. 5, 1888, in Equality, the son of Rev. and Mrs. Charles W. Sabine. He was married in 1931 in Edwardsville to Margaret Bonham.

Mr. Sabine was an active member of the First Methodist Church of Murphysboro.

He leaves his wife; daughters, Mrs. Howard K. Ray of Utica, N.Y., and Mrs. Robert W. Weihe of Iowa City, Iowa; a son [from a previous marriage], John Sabine of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Sabine was a brother of the late Dr. Ralph S. Sabine, a Murphysboro physician and surgeon.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, friends make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
