Emma Parks (King) Breese Abbott was born April 26, 1891, the sixth of ten children of John McCandish & May Ella (Parks) King, of St. Lawrence, Hand Co., South Dakota.

She received her teaching degree from Dakota Wesleyan and Huron Colleges in 1934 and taught in Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota many years.

She was married to Lincoln Charles Breese, (widower), at St. Lawrence August 30, 1916. They were the parents two children, Geraldine and Wayland Breese. Emma and Lincoln were divorced between 1925 and 1930.

Emma's sister Maude was married to Frank A. "Ted" Abbot in 1904 and died in 1954, after which Emma and Frank were married May 26, 1955.

Emma and Frank were killed July 27, 1957 in a head-on collision near Freeport, Stearns Co., Minnesota.

Double funeral services were held July 31 from the First Methodist Church in Miller, SD, with Rev. Cecil Miller and Rev. Walter Larrabee of the St. Lawrence Community Church in charge.
