Ronald L. Stovall, 61, died Tuesday at his home.

The body was cremated. The ashes were scattered by his family in the mountains near Ruidoso, N.M and some placed in the Kermit cemetery.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clark Williams officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.

Mr. Stovall was born in Wink and grew up in Kermit. He graduated from Sul Ross University in 1960 and received a Masters Degree in Public Heath from the University of North Carolina in 1969. He married Kay Law in 1964 in Waco and taught school in El Paso. He worked for the Texas Department of Health from 1967 until retiring as an administrator in 1995. He moved to Abilene in 1976. He was a former member of the Lions Club in El Paso. He was a volunteer for the Mission Task Force and Methodist Service Center and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Rawson Stovall of Santa Monica, Calif.; one daughter, Jennifer Vance of Levelland; and two brothers, Cedric Stovall of Graham and W.F. Stovall of Lubbock.

Memorials may be sent to Methodist Service Center, P.O. Box 5372, Abilene 79608; or a favorite charity.
