Mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Doris Harris Spencer Meldrum, 88, passed away on October 25, 2012 at her home in Kaysville. She was born on November 25, 1923 to David O. Harris and Vera M. Parker in Layton, Utah. Doris graduated from Weber High School.

She married Albert Mark Spencer in Huntsville, Utah on June 27, 1942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Mark passed away on April 23, 1973. She later married Lynn Meldrum who also preceded her in death on October 1, 1993.

Doris grew up in Layton and Huntsville. She was raised in a large family of 7 brothers and 3 sisters. Doris helped raise her younger brothers who affectionately called her DoDo. She worked at the Arsenal during the war and enjoyed flying with Mark in his airplane. She worked at Polk and Ogden High Schools in the Lunch Program. She also owned and operated Mark A Newt Appliance with her husband Mark for 25 years.

She enjoyed reading, visiting with her family, and spending time at the family cabin.
Mom's greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed and loved her family and always looked forward to the summer family reunion in Huntsville. One of her favorite times of the year was Christmas and the family Christmas Party in December.

Doris was active in the LDS Church and served in the library, as a visiting teacher and primary worker for many years. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel and exemplified charity, kindness and compassion in every way.

She was such a source of strength to her family and will be dearly missed.

The family appreciates all the services of Prestige Home Heath and her sweet Senior Companion, Sharon for their many hours of service.

Doris is survived by her 5 children: Bonnie (Dennis) DeBoer, Gary (Geanita) Spencer, Diann (Scott) Croft, Carl Spencer and Rick (JoAnn) Spencer. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Mark and Lynn, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
