TRINITY -- Services for Mary Hazel Skainswere, 87, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 at the Carlisle Baptist Church with Pastor Dwain Pollard officiating. Burial followed at the Carlisle Cemetery. Mrs. Skains died Friday, Jan.13. She was born April 7, 1924 in Walker County, the daughter of Dan and Drada (Tipton) Gordan. Mrs. Skains was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Gerald Ray Skains and Lynn Ray Skains. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Gerald Skains of Trinity; a daughter, and her spouse Lometa and Joe Clark of Mineola; a daughter-in-law, Karon Shipman and husband Lin of Carlisle; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Peggy Whitmire; and a number of other relatives and friends. Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.
