St. Onge – Myra N. Harmer, 82, formerly of Sioux Falls, died Monday, Jan 8, 1996, at her home. Myra N. Hazlett was born August 13, 1913, in Sioux City, Iowa. She moved to Sioux Falls where she worked as a waitress in the NCO Club at the Army Base. She married Carlyle Harmer on February 21, 1939, in Mitchell. She was a homemaker. After her husband's death on February 7, 1964, she worked at Augustana College for several years. She moved to the Hickory House in Spearfish in 1988, and made her home with her son in St. Onge in 1993.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church; Firefighters Auxiliary; and the Rebekah Lodge, all in Sioux Falls. She is survived by one son, Richard of St. Onge; two stepsons: Robert of Sioux Falls; and Oliver of Southern California; two grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial services begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the residence of Richard and Sandra Harmer in St. Onge, with private committal services at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sioux Falls. There will be no visitation. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangementsl Memorials may be directed to the South Dakota Alzheimer's Association.
