Accident in dense fog claims life

A 77 year old Marion County woman was killed last Friday in a two vehicle accident on Mississippi Hwy. 35 north of Columbia, a Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman said earlier this week.
Shirley Pigott Bailey of Goss Bunker Hill Road was driving south on Mississippi Hwy. 35, MHP Cpl. Todd Miller said Monday. She was killed when a vehicle driven by Virginia Robertson of Reservoir Road was unable to stop, he said.
Miller said that he knew of no other injuries in connection with the acciden.
The dense fog that morning is believed to have contributed to the fatal wreck.
Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 6:19 a. m. call and stayed on the scene of the accident for more than two hours.
Funeral services for Bailey were held Wednesday at Hathorn Funeral Home of Columbia. Burial followed at Mount Olive (La.) Cemetery.
