John Allen Vickers

John Allen Vickers, age 72, of Alma passed away Thursday, October 25th at his residence after a short illness. He was a native of Atkinson County but had lived in Bacon County for many years. John was son of the late Thomas William Vickers and Annie Douglas Vickers and preceded in death by a son, James Vickers and a brother, Jimmy Vickers. He served in the US Army.

Survivors include his wife, Retha Deen Vickers of Alma, two sons, Tommy Vickers (Amanda) and Chris Vickers of Alma, three daughters, Sheryl Barnes (Teary) of Jesup, Susan Shores (Billy) of Alma and Brenda Pries (Mike) of Silver Springs, FL., five brothers, Jake Vickers, Dan Vickers and Henry Vickers of Pearson, Ga, Larry Vickers of Waresboro, Ga, and David Vickers of FL, two sisters, Cora Faye Boatright of Brunswick, Ga. and Mary Parker of Arkansas, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27th at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. James McGee, Pastor Dean Kapp and Elder Dan Vickers officiating. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home between 6 and 9 PM.

Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and all others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
