Viola Elizabeth Borst, 96, of Urbana passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012, in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana.
She was born March 28, 1916, in Mechanicsburg, the daughter of Jesse and Jenny (Culp) Perry.
Viola and her husband, Robert, operated the Econo Wash Laundry Mat for many years.
She was known for her cooking and baking, especially noodles, jelly rolls and pies. She loved visiting with friends and talking on the phone, but she especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Most recently, Viola enjoyed van rides to get ice cream, bingo and Bible Study at Mercy McAuley Center. She is survived by her daughter, Wilma S Huffman; daughter-in-law, Joyce Borst of Urbana; son-in-law, Richard Huffman of Urbana; grandchildren, Lisa Kinnson (Jeff Roberts), Aaron (Melissa) Huffman, Anna Marie Huffman, Bobby Jo (Jeff) Powell and Roger Jr (Nikki) Borst; great-grandchildren, Shae and Brendyn Kinnson, Chelsea, Austin and Mason Powell, Leah Borst, Thera Poland, Andrew McConnell, Heather, Tanner, Nicholas and Gunnar Huffman; as well as her roommate at McAuley Center, Helen Terry.
Viola is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Borst; son, Roger Borst; granddaughter, Gail Borst; sisters, Mary Louden, Dorothy Arnold, Edna Davis and Irma Caskey; brothers, Ray and Buff Perry. Her family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of Mercy McAuley Center for their loving and compassionate care.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, October 26, 2012, in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday in the funeral home with Rev Nancy Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in Woodstock Cemetery.
