Anna M. Cornwell, age 88 of Elwood, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood following an extended illness. She was born August 17, 1924 in Anderson, the daughter of William and Lesta Hahn. She was a homemaker most of her life and retired from Community Hospital in Anderson where she worked for several years in environmental services. She married Benjamin Cornwell on February 11, 1949. Anna was a member of the United Christian Church in Elwood. She loved playing the piano at church and was proud of achieving this accomplishment without ever receiving professional training. Anna also enjoyed sewing and reading her Bible.

Anna's family includes 4 children, Jewel Ann (husband Don) Arnold, Jasper "Neal" Gwinn, Sandy Cornwell, and Jack Cornwell; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 23 years, Benjamin Cornwell who died April 30, 1971; 2 daughters, Betty Mae Gwinn-Dowler and Ellen Marie Gwinn; 4 step-sons, Robert Cornwell, Donald Cornwell, Richard Cornwell, and Neal Cornwell; 7 brothers, Byron "Milt" Hahn, William Hahn, Hillard Hahn, Melvin "Dutch" Hahn, Ronald Hahn, Robert Hahn, and Sylvester Hahn; 3 sisters, Louise Dowler, Eva Hahn, and Mabel Mead; and a great-grandson, Jacob Dowler.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Chaplain Rob Mifflin of Community Hospice officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Elwood City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Morrisett Center Food Pantry through the funeral home. Annie was also married to Jasper N. Gwinn Sr.on the 5th of October 1940 and divorced in 1948.
