GARDINER - Lawrence L. Baker, age 71, of Gardiner, NY, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at his home. Mr. Baker was born on August 29, 1938 in Northfield, VT. He was the son of the late Roy and the late Leah (Covey) Baker. He married Karen Stokes on April 5, 1969 at The Reformed Church of Gardiner. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959. Mr. Baker enjoyed playing guitar and singing. He was a stained glass artist and loved his computers and genealogy. He was a Narcotics Officer and was employed by Narcotic Addiction Control Commission, Beacon, NY. He is survived by his wife, Karen (Stokes) Baker; four daughters, Lauren Baker of New Paltz, NY; Penny Baker of Morrisville, VT; Vicki Carleton of Shelburne, VT; Carrie Baker of Burlington, VT; two sisters, Gloria Riel of Deerfield, NH; grandson, Christopher Baker of Morrisville, VT; granddaughter, Ana Baker of Morrisville, VT; and great-grandson, Gavin Baker of Morrisville, VT. He was predeceased by his son, Lawrence Baker, Jr, brother, Glendon Baker, and sister, Winona Moore. Cremation took place at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
