Graveside services for Mattie V. Thornley of Henderson, Texas, will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Sugar Creek Cemetery with Pastor Randy Mayfield officiating.
Mrs. Thornley died Monday, March 15, 2004, at the Southwood Nursing Center in Henderson, Texas. She was 91.

Mattie Thornley was born May 12, 1912, in Nelson, Oklahoma, the daughter of R. F. Herman and Teria Keller Herman. She was raised in the Mudsand area of Choctaw County. She married Leo Dean Thornley on October 20, 1934, in Hugo. She moved with her family to Andrews, Texas in 1945, until her husband's retirement in 1976 when they returned to the Hugo area. In 1982 they moved to Livingston, Texas to be near their family.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Leo Dean Thornley on December 2, 1996; one son, Robert Cleo Thornley in 1939; three un-named children; three brothers, and one sister.

Surviving relatives include four sons; Johnny Thornley of Livingston, Texas, Roy Calvin Thornley of Charleston, S. C., Gary Dean Thornley of Alvin, Texas, and Leo Dean Thornley, Jr. of Henderson, Texas; one brother, Wiley Herman of Hood River, Oregon; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
