m1: 1800-09-24 in Berkeley county VA (now WV) to Nancy Vance (Mary Vance) (daughter of reverend Hugh Vance & Elizabeth Park) b: c. 1780 d: c. 1806
m2: 1807-05-07 in Champaign county OH (now Logan county OH) to Margaret Jane Smith
1812-09-14 to 1812-10-15 in captain Cox's Ohio militia. 1814-03-14 granted 614 acres in section12 township6 range9 between Great Miami river and VA reservation. Served a term as towhship trustee. Was described as biggest, strongest man in the county, and senator/SecNav/ambassador John P. Kennedy described him and siblings as all over 6 foot 3 inches tall -- red-haired giants.
His estate inventory was in Harrison township, but other records show he owned a farm and distillery along Sinking Creek near the Union church which he co-founded, sometimes reported as about 3 miles east of Zanesfield, and other times as "in the northeastern part of Springfield Township, on Section 6, and on the old Columbus road, six miles northeast of Springfield".
We suspect he was buried at Greenwood cem., in DeGraff where several of his children are, or at what was the Union non-demoninational church which was built on land he and his brother donated.
