Joe Walter "PaPa" McGee was born May 17, 1933, in Bennington, Okla., and had lived in the Fort Worth area for 37 years. He served in the National Guard and the U.S. Army from 1951-1955, when he was honorably discharged. He started working in the family trucking business at age 15 and went on to work with other freight carriers during his career and retired from Consolidated Freight in August 1997 with 58 years in the trucking industry. He was married to his loving wife, Deborah Carter McGee, on Aug. 9, 2003, and was a friend and devoted husband to her. He loved his children, grandchildren and family with his heart and soul. With his selfless attitude toward helping people, he would drop anything he was doing at any time to come to the need of his family, friends or even a stranger. He was a hard-working man whose immense dedication to his family, friends and church was seen through the eyes of many. He was a faithful and devout member of Cornerstone Apostolic Church who dedicated his life to God. He was preceded in death by his children, Joe Walter McGee Jr. and Laura Ann McGee; parents, L.C. McGee Sr. and Jeanetta McGee; brothers, L.C. McGee Jr. and John D. McGee; and sister, Dorothy Mauldin. Survivors: Wife, Deborah McGee of Fort Worth; children, Chinista Mooney and husband, Timothy, of Fort Worth, John D. McGee and wife, Pam, of Fort Worth, Yvonne Grimmett and husband, Steve, of Fort Worth, Robert McGee and wife, Misty, of North Richland Hills, Stephanie Taylor and husband, Brent, of Mesquite and David McGee of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Amanda and Jason Cole, John D. McGee Jr., Rececca and Tim Giles, Timothy Joel Mooney, Clinton McGee, Laquita Mooney, David McGee Jr., Reagan McGee, Don Payne Jr., Ashley McGee, Ashley Grimmett, Branden McGee, Grady Payne, Tiffany McGee, Savannah McGee and Mason Taylor; great-grandchild, Gracie Giles; and sister, Juanita Mowdy.
