Mrs. T H Pope Dies
Houston lost another of its beloved women in the death of Mrs. T H Pope which occurred early Sunday morning following a few days' illness from pneumonia.
Mrs. Pope was born in Alabama, but had lived the greater part of her life in Mississippi and in Houston for a number of years. She was sixty-eight years of age, and since her girlhood had been a consistent member of the Baptist Church. Had she lived two more years she and Mr. Pope would have celebrated their golden wedding, an event they were anticipating with great pleasure.
Her Christianity was manifested in her daily life. Patient, cheerful, charitable and grateful was she until the very last.
All of her children except one daughter, Mrs. Ike Gilliland, of Harmony, Okla., were at her bedside. Mr. Pope and five other daughters, one son and several grandchildren survive. These are Mrs. Lloyd Dickerson, Blaine; Mrs. W A Flinn, Algoma; Mrs. Zula Gregory, Okolona; Misses Cullie and Clara Pope of Memphis, and Dr. Andrew Pope of St. Louis.
The funeral services were conducted from the Baptist Church Monday afternoon at ten o'clock by the pastor, Rev. W C Stewart, assisted by Rev. Geo Boyles of the Methodist Church. Interment followed in Prospect Cemetery, near Aberdeen. The pallbearers were P G Randle, Lee Horn, Tom Craig, Oscar Alexander, Sam Goza, and W J Elliott.
