Ira W. Deihl, 80, retired Spring Hill cemetery caretaker, died Monday, December 3 at 9:00 o'clock, after an illness of two years. He was born September 10, 1865, in Mowersville and was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Deihl. For the past four years he has been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. H.E. Hipple of Newville. He was married in 1891 to the late Lilly Hannon Deihl.
Mr. Deihl, well know in Shippensburg, was employed at the Spring Hill cemetery for a period of 50 years and retired in 1941. He also attended the Messiah United Brethren church in Shippensburg.
He is survived by two children, Mrs. H.E. Hipple, Newville and Walter Deihl, West Chester, also several grandchildren. He is the last of his immediate family.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon from the M. Garfield Barbour Funeral Home. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Edgar E. Spatz and internment will be in the Spring Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the M. Garfield Barbour Funeral Home on Wednesday evening.
