He was born Dec. 3, 1926 in Angelus to Frank A. and Josephine (Kelliher) Rietcheck. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.
He married Jean Dickman on Nov. 4, 1947 in Angelus. He was a lifetime area resident of Grinnell and Angelus. He owned and operated J&R Boot Shop in Oakley, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grinnell; past member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Angelus; charter member of the VFW and member of the American Legion, both of Grinnell; and was a Boy Scout leader.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ronnie and Dan; three daughters, Jolene Beckman, Lynn Heinrich and Kay Ann Rietchek; a brother Richard L.; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grinnell, with Fathers Roger K. Meitl and Basil Torrez officiating; burial in the church cemetery with military graveside services by the Wheatland VFW.
