Selma Jensina Hanson was born on September 11, 1906 in Erie, MN, the oldest daughter of John Edwin and Alma Stephenson Hanson. She grew up in the Goodridge area and attended school there. She was united in marriage to Guy McEnelly on November 14, 1925 in Goodridge, and the couple lived there and had two children: Betty Jane and John Raymond "Bud". Guy McEnelly died in 1942.
She was united in marriage to Emil Anderson on December 2, 1952, and they lived in Thief River Falls. He died in 1965.
Selma worked at Mercy Hospital and Valley Home in Thief River Falls for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and entertaining family and friends. She was a long time member of the Assembly of God church.
Survivors include a daughter Betty Wold, of Thief River Falls; a daughter-in-law Janice Iverson (widow of her son Bud); two stepchildren, Evelyn Willet of Clearwater, FL, and Mae Anderson of Northville, MI; and a stepdaughter-in-law Ruth Anderson of Adrian, MI.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by a son Raymond; one sister, Esther, a stepson, Morris Anderson; and a son-in-law, Ralph Wold.
