Mary Earline Wimpee, born April 29, 1918 in Garrison, Texas died on October 30, 2007 in her sleep at home. She worked for the telephone company and was a long time member of the CWA serving as union officer on the bargaining committee, and fought hard to win benefits now enjoyed by telephone company employees. She was a very loving person who cared for those in need. She was the last of a large family of eleven children and a member of the Baptist Church. She attended St. George Episcopal Church with her husband Roy and did volunteer work at the Bargain Boutique, a thrift shop of St. George's, as long as her health permitted. She was also an expert at ceramics, creating beautiful and complex pieces as well as teaching others the craft. She was preceded in death by her parents, all ten brothers and sisters, first husband, John Henry Curbow, second husband, R.H. (Red) Ridinger, and son Melvin Curbow. She is survived by her husband, Roy Wimpee; grandson, Mike Curbow; one sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her very much. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 4, 2007 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Porter Loring Mortuary North. SERVICE MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2007 1:00 P.M. ST. GEORGE EPISCOPAL CHURCH The Reverend Ram Lopez will officiate. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery III.
