Biography: In 1926, the Willis Family (Eugene, Beulah and one child, John Bonner) were living in Miami, Florida. In October of that year, Eugene was accidentally killed as a result of the "Great Miami Hurricane of 1926." According to Beulah Willis, he ran out to help some people and ran into a clothesline just as a bolt of lightning hit it which killed him instantly. His son, John Bonner was about 2 years old. He never saw his daughter, Eugenia, who was born four days later on October 6, 1926. Beulah and family moved back to North Carolina where she remarried to Julius Frost Hardison (1900-1956).
