John Hicks' rites pending
John H. Hicks, 76, of 902 North Lousia, died at 6:55 p.m. Monday in a local rest home. Gaskill's funeral home will announce services. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
Mr. Hicks retired six years ago after 35 years as an employee of the Rock Island railway. Born in Wayne county, Missouri, he came to Shawnee in 1906. He was a member of Trinity Baptist church.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel of the home; a step-daughter, Mrs. Wendell Stagg of route 5 Shawnee; a step-son, W.O. Hicks of Los Angeles, California; a foster daughter, Mrs. Ted Hammons of 418 West Tenth; a foster son, Glenwood Kelley of Sacramento, California; a sister, Mrs. Nannie Scott of Chicago, Illinois; and four grandchildren.
