George Robert Bronaugh was born at Little-
ton, Schuyler County, Illinois, October 26,
1853. He passed away at the home of his
son, Loren Bronaugh in Frankfort, Kansas
on June 18, 1942 at the age of 88 years,
7 months and 23 days.

With his parents, he came to a farm south-
west of Seneca, Kansas in October 1857,
just before he was four years old. He lived
in this neighborhood until March 1, 1889
when he moved to Bigelow, Kansas where
he has been ever since.

On September 23, 1974 he was united in
marriage to Emma S. McBratney. To this
union was born nine children; Mrs. Elva
Smith, San Diego, California, Linnie
Bronaugh who died in infancy, Elmer
Bronaugh, Atchison, Kansas, Walter Bron-
augh, Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs. Dora
Smith and Clarence Bronaugh, both of
Bigelow, Kansas, Ralph Bronaugh and
Loren Bronaugh, Frankfort, Kansas and
Edwin Bronaugh, Salina, Kansas; 31 grand-
children, 24 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs.
Mary E. Webber, Abilene and Mrs. Maude
Sellers, Hardy, Arkansas; one brother, Joe
T. Bronaugh, Maple Hill, Kansas, Mrs.
Bronaugh died on August 4, 1897.

He was married a second time to Elizabeth
Walters Oswalt, on November 1, 1909. She
preceded him in death on May 8, 1937.

Mr. Bronaugh was a member of the Meth-
odist Church in Bigelow, Kansas and
faithful in his community obligations. A
long-time citizen of the community, he had
made a real place for himself in our hearts.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist
Church in Bigelow, Kansas on Monday after-
noon with the Reverend Wright M. Horton
officiating.

At the request of Mr. Bronaugh his six sons
acted as pallbearers.

Interment was in the Antioch Cemetery,
southwest of Frankfort, Kansas.
