Miss Hayhurst was born May 22, 1920, in Little, Okla., to James C. and Ruth Jane (Reed) Hayhurst. Ruby was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1938, then attended Amarillo Business College, where she majored in accounting and business management. Upon graduation, she worked three years as a legal secretary. She then went to work in the war effort at Pantex, where she was the administrative assistant to the architect who was responsible for the design and building of Pantex. After the war, Ruby was a business manager for Jeoffery Manufacturing until 1980, when she became the business manager and project coordinator for Gilbert Building. She retired in 1989 to enjoy her family and her love of travel, especially to the mountains of New Mexico. She was a member of San Jacinto Assembly of God. She was our rock and our wonderful aunt Ruby will be deeply missed.

Sandy Vandiver and Madonna Lindley would like to invite all of Ruby¹s friends and family to come to the funeral home today from 5 to 7 p.m. to share their memories and stories.
