After serving in the navy and learning telegraphy Moody was the station agent for the Santa Fe Railroad Company in North Dinuba for 45 years. He was the station agent at Dinuba, Tulare County, California when he retired. He had a home built on a lot not far from the Dinuba station. He used logs from an old railroad building that was torn down. The walls were two feet thick. Moody and Erna were Presbyterians and sang in the choir.
