James Byron Derreberry, age 95, of Knoxville, passed away at home on Thursday, October 18th, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in McMinn County on June 11th, 1917 and later moved to Knox County, where he lived for over 75 years. He was a long-time member of Ebenezer Methodist Church and, later, of the First Baptist Church of Blue Grass. He worked for many years at Power Equipment Company. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Leola Derreberry; his brother, Woodrow Derreberry; his sisters: Jessie Pettitt, Mildred Isbell, and Lela Holder; a grandson, Jason Altom; and a great-grandson, Walker Gorney. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Nora Belle Derreberry, his four daughters (and sons-in-law) James and Maxine Curtis, Don and Dianna Altom, Sandy O'Donnell, and Patty Derreberry; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
