Marilyn was born June 4, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to Paul and Erna Becker. She had lived in the Des Moines area since 1964. Marilyn had worked for Walmart for 10 years before retiring in 1999. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Marilyn is survived by her children Colleen (Terry) Hennesy, , Sean (Donna) Fitzgerald, Timothy (Kris) Fitzgerald, Mary (Kent) Horstmann, Noreen (Jon) Watson, Patricia Fitzgerald, and Lora (Ron) Weddell; twenty grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Paul Allan Jr., and her loving husband Gerald "Jerry" Fitzgerald.
Marilyn loved spending time with family, especially loved holiday gatherings. She was a mother to all she met.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th St. followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m., Friday at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th St.
Memorial contributions may be directed to University of Iowa Children's Hospital in loving memory of Marilyn.
