MRS. GAY WILL BE BURIED WED.
Final rites for Mrs. Allie Augusta Smith Gay, 86, who died Monday afternoon at her residence in Scott, will be held at eleven o'clock Wednesday morning from Scott Baptist Church. Elder J. T. Thomas and Rev. John L. Manning will officiate with Adams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in the Foskey Family Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be nephews: Lonnie Smith, Percy Smith, Elsie Smith, Leon Belote, Irvin Belote, and John C. Smith. Honorary escort will include Elmo Keen, J. B. Thomas, Marvin Carter, J. J. Harrison, Herbert Anderson, Dr. J. G. Carter, Bartow Wilson, E. B. Stewart, Carlton Williams, and others. Mrs. Gay will be placed in the church from ten o'clock until the hour of service.
Mrs. Gay, who had been ill for two years, was a lifelong resident of Scott. She was the daughter of the late George Foskey and Georgia Ann Pope. Deceased had lived a long fruitful life, making many friends and having four surviving generations. She had been making her home with her son, Marvin Smith in Scott, for a number of years. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and was married to the late Julian Gay.
Surviving her are three sons, Marvin Smith of Scott, J. H. Smith of Dublin, and C. C. Smith of Adrian; two daughters, Mettie Miller of Savannah and Mrs. Victoria Horton of Adrian; one brother, G. F. Foskey of Hazelhurst; six sisters, Mrs. Lula Rowland of Hazelhurst, Miss Millie Foskey of Dublin, Mrs. Idella Mimbs Smith and Mrs. Clara Mimbs, both of Adrian, Mrs. Annie Brantley of Dublin, and Mrs. Ocella Mimbs of Alamo; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
