She was born June 5, 1908 to Andrew and Anna Kragness. She was raised and educated in the Douglas area, graduating from Douglas High School. She attended one year of business college in Fargo, then moved to Minot. She was once married to Richard Lee. While living in Minot, she worked as a bookkeeper/secretary for Anderson Beverage for a number of years. She married Victor Alfstad Dec. 27, 1946. He died in 1967. Their son James Alfstad died Jan. 2, 1998.
Sylvia worked as a bookkeeper/secretary for an office at Minot Air Force Base. From 1962 to 1974, she was employed at Hap’s Plumbing and Heating. She recently entered the Trinity Nursing Home, Minot. She was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. She was a member of the Elks and years ago was a member of a knitting club.
Survivors: Son, Don Lee, Minot: daughter, Arlene Lee Nelson, Minot; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray “Vernon” , Mesa, Arizona.
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
